We live in Oakland, California in an area called Montclair, which is situated in the wooded hills of the East Bay. In 2002, Money Magazine ranked Montclair the 6th best place to live in the U.S, and we couldn't agree more! The area is beautiful, safe, peaceful, and has some of the best schools in the area. As you can see, we're very close to San Francisco and all that the city has to offer.
Our home is serene and cozy, and surrounded by nature. We love that we can see deer, squirrels, birds and raccoons from our deck. We have lots of space, including an extra family room family where our friends' children love to play. We can't wait to prepare and decorate our baby's nursery. Our desire is for our home to be a place where our child will feel secure and happy.
In our neighborhood and surrounding area, there are many kid-friendly activities nearby, including a community pool, playgrounds, a steam train, pony rides, museums, lakes and beaches. Our home is less than a mile from Redwood Regional Park, where we hike the gorgeous Northern California trails often. There are many other major regional parks in the East Bay that we take advantage of throughout the year. We can't wait to bring our child on picnics and hikes. It will be wonderful to watch our child explore and learn about nature!
In addition to the amazing natural beauty of Oakland, we love its diversity. There are more than 150 languages spoken in Oakland, making it one of the most ethnically diverse cities in America!
View of the Golden Gate Bridge, across the San Francisco Bay, from a road near our house. Shari drives by this beautiful scene every day on her way to work!
